Trusting God When There Seems to Be No Way Forward
Have you ever reached a point in life where you could not see a way forward? You have prayed, waited, worked hard, and done everything you know to do, yet the situation seems unchanged. The door remains closed, the answer seems delayed, and the future appears uncertain.
Perhaps you are facing financial pressure, a family challenge, a health concern, disappointment, or a decision that seems impossible to make. You may even be asking, “Lord, how will I get through this?”
Here is the encouragement you need today: your inability to see a way does not mean God has no way.
The God we serve is not limited by the circumstances that limit us. When our understanding reaches its end, His wisdom has not ended. When our strength is exhausted, His power remains available. When every human option appears to have failed, we can still trust His faithfulness.
At Dominion International Center, Los Angeles, we believe that the Word of God gives us a firm foundation for faith, hope, and victory. This week, let us explore the powerful truth that God will make a way.
1. God Can Make a Way Where None Exists
Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV) declares:
“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
A wilderness is not a place where roads are easily found. A desert is not where we naturally expect to discover flowing rivers. Yet God promises to do what seems impossible in places where human expectations have failed.
This scripture reminds us that God is not restricted to the routes we can see. He can introduce a new opportunity, provide wisdom for a difficult decision, bring the right help at the right time, and lead us through circumstances we never imagined we could overcome.
Sometimes, we become so focused on the door that has closed that we fail to recognize the new thing God may be doing. We assume that because one opportunity has ended, our future has ended too.
But a closed door is not proof that God has abandoned you.
Do not allow your present difficulty to become the measure of God’s ability. Keep praying, keep obeying His Word, and remain sensitive to His direction.

2. When You Reach Your Red Sea, God Is Still in Control
One of the clearest biblical examples of God making a way is found in Exodus 14.
The Israelites had left Egypt, but their journey was suddenly interrupted. The Red Sea stood before them, and Pharaoh’s army was approaching from behind. They appeared to have nowhere to turn.
Humanly speaking, their situation was hopeless. Going forward seemed impossible, and returning meant going back into bondage.
But God had not brought them out of Egypt to abandon them at the sea.
In Exodus 14:13–16, Moses encouraged the people not to be afraid, instructed them to stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord, and then received God’s command to move forward. God instructed Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea, and He opened a path through the waters.
The sea that appeared to be an obstacle became the very place where God’s power was revealed.
Notice something important: the Israelites had to trust God’s instruction. Their deliverance was not produced by panic, fear, or their own ability to control the situation. God acted, and they were called to respond in obedience.
You may be standing at a personal Red Sea today. You may not know how the bills will be paid, how a relationship will be restored, or how a difficult season will end.
Do not assume that the absence of an obvious solution means there is no solution. Pray for wisdom, listen for God’s direction, and take the next faithful step He places before you.
God’s way may not look like the route you expected, but you can trust His character as He leads you.
3. Do Not Let Fear Speak Louder Than God’s Promises
Fear often grows when we focus entirely on what could go wrong. It magnifies obstacles, weakens our confidence, and tempts us to believe that the worst outcome is inevitable.
But God’s Word calls us to a different response.
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) says:
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My
Practical Steps: What to Do When You Believe God Will Make a Way
Faith is not merely believing that God can change your situation; it is also trusting Him enough to follow His direction. When the way ahead seems unclear, take these practical steps.
1. Remember What God Has Already Done
When fear tells you that your present situation is hopeless, remind yourself of God’s past faithfulness. The same God who sustained you yesterday is able to strengthen you today.
Scripture: Psalm 77:11 (NKJV)
Take time to write down previous occasions when God provided, protected, encouraged, or delivered you. Let those testimonies strengthen your faith for the present.
2. Pray Specifically About Your Situation
Don’t allow worry to consume the time you should spend seeking God. Tell Him honestly what you are facing, and ask Him for wisdom, direction, strength, and provision.
Scripture: Philippians 4:6–7 (NKJV)
Instead of praying only, “Lord, help me,” identify the particular challenge you need Him to address. Bring your family, finances, health concerns, career, ministry, and future before Him.
3. Obey the Instructions God Has Given You
In Exodus 14, God told Moses to instruct the Israelites to move forward. The sea was still before them, but God had given them a direction.
Sometimes, your next step may be to make a phone call, pursue an opportunity, apologize to someone, seek wise counsel, learn a new skill, or take responsibility for something you have delayed.
Scripture: James 1:22 (NKJV)
Do not confuse waiting on God with refusing to take a wise, responsible step. Trust Him while doing what is right.
4. Refuse to Let Fear Make Your Decisions
Fear can make a temporary problem appear permanent. It can convince you to abandon your faith, withdraw from good opportunities, or assume that nothing will ever change.
Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
Acknowledge your feelings, but do not let them become the final authority over your decisions. Seek God’s wisdom, examine the facts, and move forward with courage.
5. Be Patient When the Answer Is Not Immediate
God’s timing does not always match our preferred timetable. Sometimes He changes the circumstances; sometimes He gives us strength to endure them; sometimes He leads us along a different route from the one we expected.
Scripture: Psalm 27:14 (NKJV)
While you wait, continue to pray, work diligently, love others, and remain faithful. A delay is not proof that God has abandoned you.
6. Stay Connected to a Community of Faith
You were not designed to carry every burden alone. God can use fellow believers, pastors, mature Christian friends, and practical support to encourage you during difficult seasons.

7. Keep Your Hope Anchored in God’s Character
Your hope must rest in who God is, not merely in the outcome you want. We cannot always predict how or when He will answer, but we can trust His wisdom, goodness, and presence.
Scripture: Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
Keep believing, keep obeying, and keep your heart open to the direction God gives you. The way He makes may look different from the one you imagined, but you can trust Him to lead you.
A Powerful Prayer: Lord, Make a Way for Me
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I come before You today, acknowledging that You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way.
Father, You know every situation confronting me. You see the challenges I cannot explain, the burdens I carry silently, the doors that have closed, and the questions for which I have no answers.
Lord, according to Your Word in Isaiah 43:19, help me to recognise the new thing You are doing. Where I see a dead end, give me the faith to trust You. Where I feel weak, strengthen me. Where confusion surrounds me, grant me wisdom and direction.
Father, make a way for me in every area where I need Your intervention. Open doors that align with Your will. Provide for my genuine needs, guide my decisions, restore my courage, and give me grace to walk through every season without losing my faith.
In the name of Jesus, I reject the control of fear, despair, and hopelessness over my heart. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and to stand firmly on Your promises.
Lord, forgive me for the times I have allowed circumstances to become greater in my eyes than Your power. Teach me to pray with faith, act with wisdom, obey Your instructions, and wait patiently for Your direction.
Father, make a way for my family. Give wisdom to those facing difficult decisions, comfort those who are grieving, strengthen those who are discouraged, and provide hope to those who feel forgotten. Let Your peace guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Where I need to take action, give me courage. Where I need to wait, give me patience. Where I need to change direction, give me humility to follow You.
I place my future in Your hands, trusting that You will never cease to be faithful to Your character and Your Word.
Thank You, Father, because even when I cannot see the way ahead, I can trust You to lead me.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
