God Is Working Even When You Cannot See It
Key Scripture: Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
One of the most difficult parts of walking with God is trusting Him when there is no visible evidence that anything is changing.
You prayed—but nothing seems to have happened.
You believed—but the situation still looks the same.
You obeyed God—but the door has not opened.
You have been waiting—but the answer appears delayed.
In moments like these, it is easy to conclude that because you cannot see God working, God must not be working.
But Scripture teaches us something very different.
God does some of His greatest work behind the scenes.
Before you see the manifestation, God may already be arranging circumstances, preparing people, opening doors, closing wrong doors, changing hearts, developing your character, and positioning you for what comes next.
Faith is not only believing God when you can see His hand.
Faith is trusting His heart when you cannot see His hand.
1. God’s Silence Does Not Mean God’s Absence
There are seasons when God seems unusually quiet.
You pray and hear no immediate answer. You look around and see no obvious change. Yet silence should never be interpreted as abandonment.
The disciples experienced something similar when Jesus was asleep in the boat during a violent storm.
“But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, ‘Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?’” — Mark 4:38 (NKJV)
Jesus was silent, but He was still in the boat.
The storm made the disciples question His concern, but His silence never meant that He had lost control.
There will be moments when your circumstances seem louder than God’s voice. In those moments, remember:
God has not abandoned the boat.
He is still present.
He is still faithful.
He is still in control.

2. God Often Works Where You Cannot See
Think about a seed planted beneath the soil.
For some time, nothing appears above the ground.
Someone who does not understand the process might conclude that nothing is happening.
But underneath the soil, something powerful has begun.
The seed is changing.
Roots are developing.
Life is forming.
And eventually, what was happening invisibly becomes visible.
Jesus said:
“For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.” — Mark 4:28 (NKJV)
Some things God is doing in your life are presently underground.
You cannot see them yet.
Don’t dig up your seed because you haven’t seen the harvest.
Keep believing.
Keep praying.
Keep obeying.
Keep serving.
At the appointed time, what God has been doing privately will become visible publicly.
3. Delay Does Not Mean Denial
We often interpret delay through human timing.
If something does not happen when we expect it, we begin wondering whether it will happen at all.
But God does not operate according to our impatience.
When Lazarus became sick, Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus. Yet Jesus did something surprising.
“So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.” — John 11:6 (NKJV)
Jesus deliberately waited.
To Mary and Martha, it probably looked like a painful delay.
By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had died.
From their perspective, Jesus had arrived too late.
But God was preparing something greater than what they originally requested.
They wanted healing.
Jesus was about to demonstrate resurrection power.
Sometimes we ask God:
“Why haven’t You done it yet?”
While God is saying:
“You haven’t seen what I am preparing.”
Do not mistake God’s timing for God’s rejection.
4. God Can Be Arranging People and Circumstances on Your Behalf
The story of Esther gives us a beautiful picture of God’s invisible orchestration.
At one critical moment, the king could not sleep.
“That night the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.” — Esther 6:1 (NKJV)
That sounds like a small detail.
But that sleepless night became part of Mordecai’s divine turnaround.
While Mordecai knew nothing about what was happening inside the palace, God was arranging events that would affect his future.
This should encourage somebody today:
There are conversations you are not present for.
There are decisions being made that you know nothing about.
There are people God can position.
There are circumstances God can rearrange.
You don’t have to manipulate everything yourself.
God knows how to work in rooms you have never entered.
5. God Is Working On You While He Is Working For You
Sometimes we become so focused on what we want God to change around us that we fail to notice what He is changing within us.
Joseph received a dream, but he did not immediately enter the palace.
There was a pit.
There was slavery.
There was false accusation.
There was prison.
And then came the palace.
Psalm 105:19 says:
“Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him.” — Psalm 105:19 (NKJV)
Joseph was waiting for his circumstances to change, but God was preparing Joseph for the responsibility connected to his destiny.
Sometimes the waiting room is also a training room.
God may be developing your patience.
Strengthening your character.
Deepening your prayer life.
Correcting your priorities.
Teaching you wisdom.
Building your capacity.
So don’t only ask:
“God, when will this situation change?”
Also ask:
“God, what are You developing in me through this season?”
6. What Looks Like A Setback Can Become Part of God’s Strategy
Romans 8:28 does not say everything that happens to us is good.
It says:
“And we know that all things work together for good…” — Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
There is a difference.
Joseph’s betrayal was not good.
Being falsely accused was not good.
Being imprisoned unjustly was not good.
But God was powerful enough to take what was meant for evil and weave it into His purpose.
Joseph eventually told his brothers:
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…” — Genesis 50:20 (NKJV)
That’s the confidence of someone who has seen God work behind the scenes.
The enemy may have intentions.
People may have intentions.
Circumstances may appear unfavourable.
But God has the final word.
What looks like interruption may become redirection.
What feels like rejection may become protection.
What appears to be a setback may eventually become part of your setup.
7. Keep Doing What God Told You To Do
One danger of waiting is becoming discouraged enough to stop.
You stop praying because you haven’t seen an answer.
You stop believing because nothing seems to be changing.
You stop serving because you haven’t seen the reward.
But Galatians 6:9 tells us:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
Notice those words:
“In due season.”
There is a season attached to the harvest.
Your responsibility is not to manufacture the season.
Your responsibility is to remain faithful until the season comes.
Keep planting.
Keep praying.
Keep preparing.
Keep developing yourself.
Keep walking in obedience.
Keep trusting God.
You may be closer to your breakthrough than your circumstances are allowing you to see.
8. God Sees the Complete Picture
We see one chapter.
God sees the entire book.
We see today.
God already knows tomorrow.
We see the closed door.
God knows what is behind it—and He knows which door actually leads to His purpose.
Isaiah 55:8–9 declares:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” — Isaiah 55:8–9 (NKJV)
There will be things you cannot understand while you are going through them.
Sometimes understanding comes later.
Sometimes God simply asks us to trust Him without giving us every detail.
You don’t need to understand everything God is doing in order to trust that He knows what He is doing.
Conclusion: Trust God in the Unseen Season
Maybe today you are standing between the promise and its manifestation.
You know what you prayed for.
You know what you believe God placed in your heart.
But when you look around, there seems to be little evidence that anything is happening.
Do not allow what you cannot see to cancel what you know about God.
God is faithful.
God is present.
God is purposeful.
And God is working.
The same God who was working behind the scenes for Joseph, Esther, Lazarus, and countless others is still working today.
You may not see the pieces moving.
You may not understand the timing.
You may not know how the story will come together.
But you can confidently declare:
God is working even when I cannot see it.
So don’t quit in the middle.
Don’t abandon your faith because the evidence hasn’t appeared.
Don’t allow delay to convince you that God has forgotten you.
Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep obeying. Keep moving forward.
At the appointed time, what God has been doing invisibly will become visible.
Prayer
Father, thank You because Your work in my life is not limited to what I can see. When I do not understand what is happening, help me to trust You. When answers seem delayed, strengthen my faith. Deliver me from discouragement, impatience and unbelief. Give me grace to remain faithful while I wait. Work everything concerning my life according to Your purpose, and let Your perfect will be fulfilled in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prophetic Declaration
I declare that God is working on my behalf even when I cannot see it! I will not be discouraged by delay. I will not surrender to doubt. I will not abandon my expectation. God is arranging circumstances, ordering my steps, opening the right doors and positioning me for His purpose. Every delay shall work for my good. Every setback shall become a setup for divine advancement. I enter my due season with faith and expectation. What God has begun in my life shall be completed, and I will see the manifestation of His goodness, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
