GOD IS DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE
Theme Scripture: Luke 18:27 (NKJV)
“The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
This is not just a message about what God can do. It is a reminder that God is not limited by the circumstances that limit us. What looks finished, closed, delayed, broken, or humanly impossible can become the very place where God’s power is revealed.
GOD IS DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE
There are moments in life when we reach the limit of what human strength, wisdom, resources, connections and ability can accomplish.
You have prayed.
You have worked.
You have waited.
You have tried different approaches.
You have asked for help.
Yet the situation still appears unchanged.
Sometimes, the greatest challenge is not what we are facing but what the situation is telling us:
“This cannot happen.”
But there is something every believer must remember:
What is impossible with man is not impossible with God.
Jesus said in Luke 18:27 (NKJV):
“The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
When human ability reaches its boundary, God’s ability has not reached its boundary.
When your resources are exhausted, God’s resources are not exhausted.
When your strength ends, God’s strength does not end.
When you cannot see a way forward, God does not need a way that already exists.
He is God. He can make a way where there appears to be no way.
1. GOD IS NOT LIMITED BY YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES
One of the greatest mistakes we can make is to measure what God can do by what we can see.
The disciples once faced a situation that appeared impossible.
A multitude was hungry, and the available food seemed completely inadequate.
There were only five loaves and two fish.
From a human perspective, there was not enough.
But Jesus took what was available, blessed it, broke it and distributed it.
The result was more than enough.
Matthew 14:19–20 records how Jesus fed the multitude, and everyone ate and was filled.
The miracle teaches us something powerful:
God does not need what is enough in your hands. He needs what you are willing to place in His hands.
You may look at your resources and say:
“It is not enough.”
God may be saying:
“Give it to Me.”
You may look at your experience and say:
“I don’t have what it takes.”
God may be saying:
“Trust Me.”
You may look at your circumstances and say:
“There is no way.”
God may be saying:
“Watch what I will do.”
2. GOD CAN TURN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS AROUND
The Bible is filled with situations that appeared impossible.
Abraham and Sarah were promised a child when the natural circumstances made the promise seem impossible.
The Israelites stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind them.
David stood before Goliath while carrying no humanly impressive military advantage.
Daniel was thrown into a lions’ den.
The three Hebrew young men were thrown into a fiery furnace.
Mary received a promise concerning the birth of Jesus that was beyond natural explanation.
Again and again, Scripture reveals a God who works beyond human limitations.
Genesis 18:14 (NKJV) asks:
“Is anything too hard for the LORD?”
That question still speaks today.
Is your situation too hard for God?
Is the financial situation too hard?
Is the family situation too hard?
Is the business situation too hard?
Is the ministry challenge too hard?
Is the door that seems permanently closed too hard?
Is the dream that seems delayed too hard?
The answer is found in the character and power of God.
Nothing is too hard for Him.
3. YOUR IMPOSSIBILITY CAN BECOME GOD’S OPPORTUNITY
Sometimes God allows us to come to the end of ourselves so that we can discover the beginning of His supernatural intervention.
Consider Lazarus.
Jesus received the news that Lazarus was sick, yet He did not immediately arrive.
By the time Jesus came, Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.
From the perspective of those around him, the situation was over.
The stone had been placed over the tomb.
The mourning had begun.
The natural conclusion was final.
But Jesus stood before the tomb and called Lazarus out.
John 11:40 (NKJV) records Jesus saying:
“Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
Notice the connection:
Believe → see → glory.
Sometimes we want to see before we believe.
But faith says:
“I may not see it yet, but I trust the God who can do it.”
Your impossible situation can become the stage upon which God’s glory is revealed.
4. DON’T LET DELAY MAKE YOU DOUBT GOD
One of the hardest parts of believing God is waiting.
We often understand God’s power but struggle with God’s timing.
You prayed yesterday.
Nothing happened.
You prayed again.
Still nothing.
You waited.
Still nothing.
And eventually, the delay begins to whisper:
“Maybe God will not do it.”
But delay is not necessarily denial.
The fact that you have not seen the manifestation yet does not mean God has stopped working.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) reminds believers that those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength.
Waiting does not mean doing nothing.
Waiting means remaining confident in God while trusting His timing.
Do not abandon your faith simply because the answer has not appeared according to your timetable.
God is still God while you wait.
5. GOD CAN USE WHAT YOU THINK IS TOO SMALL
Sometimes the problem is not that we have nothing.
The problem is that we underestimate what God can do with what we have.
A shepherd’s staff became an instrument in Moses’ hand.
A small amount of oil became provision for a widow.
Five loaves and two fish became food for a multitude.
A sling and five stones became enough for David to confront Goliath.
A young boy’s willingness became part of a great miracle.
Never despise what God has placed in your hand.
Your gift may seem small.
Your business may seem small.
Your beginning may seem small.
Your opportunity may seem small.
Your influence may seem small.
But God specializes in taking small things and accomplishing significant purposes through them.
Zechariah 4:10 tells us not to despise the day of small beginnings.
So give God what you have.
He knows what to do with it.
6. FAITH BELIEVES GOD BEFORE THE EVIDENCE APPEARS
Faith does not deny reality.
Faith simply refuses to make reality the final authority.
The circumstances may say:
“Impossible.”
Faith says:
“God is able.”
The report may say:
“No.”
Faith says:
“God still has the final word.”
The door may appear closed.
Faith says:
“God can open a door no man can shut.”
Romans 4:17 speaks of God as the One who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.
Abraham believed God’s promise even when the circumstances appeared contrary to it.
That is the kind of faith God wants to develop in us.
Not faith in our ability.
Not faith in our resources.
Not faith in human systems.
Faith in God.
7. GOD’S POWER IS GREATER THAN YOUR LIMITATION
Perhaps today you are standing before something you cannot solve.
You have reached your limit.
You have done everything you know to do.
You cannot see the next step.
If that describes you, don’t allow your limitation to become your conclusion.
Your limitation is not God’s limitation.
Your weakness is not God’s weakness.
Your lack is not God’s lack.
Your impossibility is not God’s impossibility.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) that God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.”
Think about that.
God’s ability is greater than your request.
His power is greater than your imagination.
His resources are greater than your need.
His wisdom is greater than your confusion.
His ways are greater than your ways.
God is able.
GOD IS DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE
There may be something in your life right now that looks impossible.
But don’t write the final chapter based only on what you can see today.
The God who opened the Red Sea is still God.
The God who shut the mouths of lions is still God.
The God who brought Lazarus out of the grave is still God.
The God who fed the multitude is still God.
The God who fulfilled His promise to Abraham is still God.
And the God of the Bible is still able to intervene in the lives of His people today.
So lift your eyes above the situation.
Lift your faith above the circumstances.
Lift your expectation above your limitations.
God is still working.
God is still able.
God is still faithful.
And what looks impossible to you is not impossible to Him.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus,
I thank You because You are the God of the impossible.
I bring before You every situation in my life that appears beyond human ability.
Where I have reached my limit, let Your power take over.
Where I cannot see a way, make a way.
Where there has been delay, give me grace to continue trusting You.
Where fear has taken the place of faith, restore my confidence in Your Word.
Help me not to measure Your ability by my circumstances.
Give me the faith to believe You even before I see the manifestation.
And let every impossible situation become a testimony of Your power and faithfulness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
