There are battles we face in life that seem bigger than our strength, opportunities that appear beyond our ability, and situations where the road ahead looks uncertain. But the child of God does not walk into the future alone.

When God goes before you, you can face tomorrow with confidence.

Moses spoke these powerful words to Joshua at a critical moment. Israel was about to enter the Promised Land, and Joshua was about to take on the responsibility of leading God’s people. There were enemies ahead, unfamiliar territory, and challenges that Joshua could not overcome by human strength alone.

But God gave him a promise:

“And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you.”

That promise is still powerful for believers today.

When God goes before you, He prepares the way, removes obstacles, gives direction, fights battles, and makes victory possible.

1. God Goes Before You to Prepare the Way

Sometimes we worry about what is waiting for us tomorrow.

We ask:

What if it doesn’t work?
What if I fail?
What if the door closes?
What if the situation becomes worse?

But when God is leading you, you don’t have to know everything about the road ahead.

God already knows what is waiting there.

Isaiah 45:2 (NKJV) says:

“I will go before you And make the crooked places straight…”

God is not asking you to figure everything out before you move. He is asking you to trust Him enough to follow His direction.

The road may not always be easy, but when God goes before you, He can straighten what looks crooked and open a path where there seemed to be none.

2. God’s Presence Gives You Confidence

Joshua had a huge assignment ahead of him, but God did not simply give him instructions. God gave him His presence.

Deuteronomy 31:8 says:

“He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you…”

The confidence of a believer is not based on having no problems.

Our confidence comes from knowing who is with us in the middle of the problem.

You may not know how everything will work out, but you can know that God is with you.

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you know the One who holds tomorrow.

That changes everything.

3. When God Goes Before You, Battles Are Not Yours Alone

There are battles that human strength cannot win.

There are doors that connections cannot open.

There are obstacles that money cannot remove.

But God can fight for His people.

In Deuteronomy 20:4 (NKJV), Moses reminded Israel:

“for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”

This does not mean believers will never face opposition. It means opposition does not have the final word when God is leading you.

The battle may be real, but God’s power is greater.

4. God’s Direction Is Greater Than Human Strategy

One of the greatest mistakes we can make is moving ahead of God.

We can have a good plan and still choose the wrong direction.

We can have an opportunity and still miss God’s timing.

We can have strength and still need divine guidance.

The children of Israel experienced this principle throughout their journey. God’s presence guided them through the wilderness.

Exodus 13:21 (NKJV) says:

“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way…”

God did not merely tell them where to go.

He went before them.

There are seasons when we need to stop asking, “God, bless what I have decided,” and start asking, “Lord, what are You leading me to do?”

When God leads, obedience becomes the pathway to victory.

5. God Can Make a Way Where There Seems to Be No Way

Israel stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army behind them.

Humanly speaking, there was no way forward.

But God was already working.

Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) declares:

“The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

What looked like a dead end became a pathway to freedom.

This is why we should never judge our future only by what we can see today.

God can create possibilities where human beings see impossibilities.

The closed door is not necessarily the end.

The difficult season is not necessarily your destiny.

The obstacle in front of you may become the testimony you tell tomorrow.

6. Victory Begins With Trust and Obedience

God going before us does not mean we have no responsibility.

Joshua still had to move.

Israel still had to follow.

David still had to face Goliath.

The disciples still had to obey Jesus.

Faith does not mean sitting still and doing nothing.

Faith means moving in obedience because you trust the God who is leading you.

Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV) says:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

When God directs your path, your responsibility is to trust Him and obey.

Faith requires more than knowing God’s promises; it requires obedience. Take your next step in your walk with God and allow Him to lead your journey.

7. If God Goes Before You, Fear Cannot Control You

Fear often grows when we focus on the size of the challenge instead of the greatness of our God.

But God repeatedly told Joshua:

“Be strong and of good courage…”

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)

Why?

Because God’s presence changes the way we face challenges.

You don’t have to be fearless because you are strong.

You can be courageous because God is with you.

Whatever you are facing in this season, don’t allow fear to make your decisions.

Don’t abandon the assignment because the road looks difficult.

Don’t quit because the opposition looks strong.

Don’t retreat because you cannot see the whole picture.

If God has gone before you, you can move forward with faith.

VICTORY IS CERTAIN WHEN GOD LEADS

There is something powerful about knowing that God is already ahead of you.

Before you arrive at the place, God is there.

Before you encounter the challenge, God knows about it.

Before the enemy forms the strategy, God already knows the battle.

Before you face the door, God knows what is on the other side.

That is why the believer can walk into the future without fear.

Psalm 23:4 (NKJV) says:

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me…”

Notice the confidence of David.

He did not say there would be no valley.

He said he would not fear in the valley because God was with him.

Boss, that is the message for DIC Los Angeles this week:

Your victory is not dependent on how strong you are. Your victory is connected to the God who goes before you.

Trust His leading.

Follow His direction.

Obey His Word.

Keep moving forward.

And when you cannot see the way, remember:

God is already there.

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You because You go before me. I surrender my plans, my decisions, my future, and my battles into Your hands. Lead me according to Your will. Make every crooked path straight, remove every obstacle standing before me, and give me courage to move forward in faith. I refuse to be controlled by fear. Because You are with me and You go before me, I declare that every battle assigned against my destiny shall end in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DECLARATION

I declare that the Lord goes before me.

Every crooked path is being made straight.

Every obstacle before me is giving way.

Every battle assigned against my progress is turning into a testimony.

I will not walk in fear.

I will not retreat.

I will not be intimidated by opposition.

The presence of God goes with me.

The wisdom of God directs me.

The power of God strengthens me.

The favor of God surrounds me.

I am moving forward, and victory is certain because God goes before me.
